An integral component of the certification program is the 24-hour Apprenticeship, which you may begin upon entering Phase II. The purpose of Apprenticeship is to more closely observe regular classes, getting hands-on experience in public yoga classes by working closely with a qualified teacher to further develop the skills and confidence for conducting well-balanced, safe and effective classes on your own. Working directly under the guidance of an approved teacher of your choice in one Level 1 or Level 1-2 class for 6 weeks and in one Level 2-3 class for 6 weeks, here you will refine your skills in the art of seeing and guiding students in a real world setting. You are credited 2-hours for each class, which includes the class-time itself and discussion with the teacher.
To summarize the hours: in Phase I, you earn 120 hours; in Phaase II you earn 80 hours, bringing you to 200 hours.
Looking through the lens of Yoga Alliance, in combining Phase I & Phase II you will receive a total over 80 hours in Techniques of Training and Practice, 30 hours in Teaching Methodology, 30 hours in Anatomy & Physiology, 30 hours in Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics, and 30 hours in Practicum.
The 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification requires completion of these hours and successful completion of a comprehensive final exam and performance exam.
